November 21st at 1:30 p.m.
Cherry Theatre, Hickman Building
Choir
The College Choir is one of two music ensembles at Columbia State.
Under the direction of Instructor of Music- Holli Scholz, the mixed men's and women's choir performs at a variety of events each semester including the school's end of semester music program and at local churches and assisted living facilities.
Attention students: You do NOT have to be a music major to join the choir!
Any current student at Columbia State can sign up for choir (MUS 1410 in the college catalog). The student receives one-hour elective credit for college choir; four semester hours are required for music majors with a vocal emphasis.
Requirements to receive an A for choir include attending all rehearsals and performances. The choir rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:20 p.m. on the Columbia Campus, Hickman building, room 145. All students within the College Choir are considered for one of the smaller performance groups Men's Ensemble, Treble Choir, with opportunities for solos, duets and trios. Extra rehearsals and auditions are scheduled as needed for solos, Chamber Ensemble, Treble Choir and Men's Ensemble.
Other music groups in the music department include Instrumental Ensemble directed by Dr. Mark Lee, and the J.A.M Club (a student/faculty/community club) which meets once a week.
