Troubleshooting Tips

• Is the master power switch, located inside the cabinet, on?
• Are all the components inside the cabinet turned on?

• Have you turned on the projector using the Extron control panel? Press the "DISPLAY ON" button on the panel to turn on the projector.  
• Have you selected the correct input source? Press the button on the Extron control panel that corresponds with the device you are using.

• The screen will automatically lower when you press the "DISPLAY ON" button on the Extron control panel. Press the "DISPLAY ON" button again if the screen did not lower the first time.

• Have you turned the computer power on?
• Have you turned on the power to the monitor?  
• Have you "logged on" to the network?    
• Is the computer not projecting? Check to see if the projector is turned on and the correct input source (PC) is selected on the Extron control panel. Additionally, check to make sure the PIC MUTE button is not selected. If it is, press the PIC MUTE button or icon to "unmute" the picture.    
• Audio problem? See Audio Problems section.    
• Is an extended PC desktop displaying on projector screen? Hold the windows key and press the "P" key to toggle to "Duplicate" mode.

• Turn on the system (i.e. the projector) using the "DISPLAY ON" button.
  • NOTE: The system must be on in order to transmit audio through classroom speakers.
• Ensure proper source is selected (i.e. PC or laptop).
  • NOTE: You will not hear PC or laptop sound while document camera is selected.
• .Adjust the instructor station volume
  • Press the white "mute' button at the control panel to toggle audio mute/unmute.
  • Adjust the volume using the volume knob at the control panel.
• Adjust the PC volume.
  • Click the speaker icon in the taskbar (lower-right of your computer screen).
  • Click the volume icon to toggle audio mute/unmute.
  • Click and drag the volume bar to adjust the volume.
  • Click the speaker "name" to view and select alternate speaker options.
    • NOTE: "ExtronD Scaler" and "Realtek" are standard for most classrooms.

• Is the power turned on? 
• Is the document camera not projecting? Check to see if the projector is turned on and the correct input source (DOC CAM) is selected on the Extron control panel.    
• Is the document dark? Check to see if the upper lamps are turned on. Also, you may need to adjust the iris.    
• Is the document bright? Try turning off the upper lamps and/or adjusting the iris.    
• Students having trouble seeing the material you are presenting on the document camera? Try using the Tele and Wide zoom controls to make the document larger or smaller.    
• Is the document out of focus? Try pressing auto-focus or manually adjusting the focus.   
• Is the remote control's batteries dead? Contact Instructional Technology Support Services at MediaServices@ColumbiaState.edu for new batteries.

• Is the power turned on?   
• Is there a DVD or CD in the machine?    
• The machine will not play the disc. Have you tried another disc?       
• Is the DVD machine not projecting? Check to see if the projector is turned on and the correct input source (DVD or AUX) is selected on the Extron control panel. Additionally, check to make sure if the PIC MUTE button or icon is selected. If it is, press the PIC MUTE button or icon to "unmute" the picture.  
• Is the remote control's batteries dead? Contact Instructional Technology Support Services at MediaServices@ColumbiaState.edu for new batteries.    
• Volume problem? Use the volume control on the Extron control panel.
