My experience as a Metallica Scholar was pretty exciting and very interesting. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Before this I was working jobs I wasn't happy with so I wanted to make a change for the better. Learning hands-on made learning a lot easier and more realistic and my chosen program it makes a big difference. I know my future will be very bright and exciting thanks to the Metallica Scholarship. I plan to work for a utility company hopefully working my way up with one company. I am very proud that I decided to come through this program I absolutely loved it. It helped me get to exactly the right path I want to be on in order to reach my goals letting me get a sense of how this career choice will be like. I would have many ways to thank the band but keeping it simple with a big thank you for helping with me getting closer to my goals.

Hayden Brandon
I feel honored to receive this scholarship which has let me excel my learning and given me a real shot at success. I've known for a while I wanted to be a lineman, so for me it was preparation for my future. As a hands-on learner, I really thrive, and I learned at a fast rate. I think my future is bright, and I am motivated and inspired. I plan to move up the chain as a journeyman lineman. I'm most proud of my determination and adaptability. My future influenced by the scholarship has been tangible and such an opportunity expedited the process. Your power has been restored!

As a Metallica Scholar, I've had an amazing experience learning about linework and really progressing my skills in the field. Before I made this decision, I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I've had a great experience and learned tons about linework that I never knew before. I think this program has really progressed my future and made it possible for me to actually have a career in linework. I plan to take all the skills I've been taught and use them to my advantage when I get out there. I'm definitely planning to use everything I've learned in the field of linework. I'm really proud that I chose this field and got the chance to pursue this class. The Metallica scholarship has made it possible for me to go through the lineworker program and actually make this into a real job. Thanks for helping further our futures, and thanks for giving us the opportunity to take this class and learn a trade.

Jalen Milton
The Metallica scholarship has been a great chance to help students like me get a jump start on learning a trade. I was working full-time as a fence installer before making the decision to go to school, and it's been a great chance to learn and grow in something new. I think I really have a chance now to start a solid career. My future plans are to get a good full-time position as a lineman and keep proceeding as my career goes on. I am most proud of myself - being able to see how far I've come and proving my doubts wrong about what I could accomplish. This scholarship has greatly helped me get a jump start on my future goals as well as my future career in linework. I would give Metallica my thanks for giving us students a real chance to help us learn a trade and for giving us that jump start on our future careers that we might not have had otherwise.

Ethan Halbrooks
The Metallica scholarship greatly helped me since my family isn't financially well off, so any help really means a lot to us. I was helping my mother and father with my siblings and household chores before I decided to go to school. Going through the lineman program has greatly helped further my goals of becoming a lineman because of all the skills I've gained from the class. My future looks a lot brighter now. This class has given me a real chance to easily step into the world of linework and get to know actual linemen who can help guide me. Thank you for helping me push forward in my life to better myself and gain new skills that will help myself and others when I get a job as a lineman helping to keep the lights on for everyone.

Rylee Jeans
My experience was outstanding, I absolutely loved every aspect of it. Throughout the whole process from applying to climbing, everyone was willing to go the extra mile for each other. Our instructor Troy was absolutely amazing. I was running heavy machinery in Chapel Hill before my decision to come to this program. With everything I've been given the opportunity to learn, my future looks very, very bright. I plan to get on at my local utility company in Shelbyville, TN. The ability to get another opportunity each morning to strive for a better life means everything to me. It's shaped me in ways I can't explain, being given the chance for a better path forward. "Seek and Destroy!"

Cameron Nelms
The Metallica scholarship was amazing way for someone to be able to go to school who may not be able to afford it. I was in high school working landscaping wondering what the next step was before this program. I have had a great time learning with people I enjoy being around. I think with the opportunity I was given, I have good things to come in the future. I plan to get on with a contractor and work state to state chasing storms. I'm proud of how far I have come since the beginning of this program. It has given me hope to do better and chase what I want. Thank you for the opportunity Metallica allowed me to have because without this scholarship I wouldn't have been able to be where I'm at right now and that I'll always be thankful for this opportunity.

Koda Watkins
The Metallica scholarship helped with the money side in moving forward with the program. I was working 3rd shift in tool and die, still doing so before making this decision to go to school. I think it will help build a solid career I've always wanted to do. I plan to make a career in lineman work with help of this class and scholarship. Just making the move already having a skilled job. It helped coming to the program having the extra help. I appreciate everything in giving to the program to help people achieve.

This grant was a blessing for me. Since Metallica helped fund this course, it was an easier commitment because it wasn’t such a financial burden. Before I decided to pursue the lineworker trade, I had various jobs. I worked out west at a ski resort doing seasonal contracts the past two years. I decided I need to come home and start a career, but it had to be something unique and challenging. This experience has been nothing short of amazing. I’m excited to see where this career will take me. I plan to start with contract work and then settle down in several years. I’m proud that I took the step to start this program, in spite of the uncertainty I had and fear of the unknown. I thoroughly enjoy climbing poles and learning new things. I want to be the best lineworker. I’m so thankful the financial aid from Metallica, I was stressed about affording this class and the impact it would have. But this has been the best investment in myself and I know it will be worth it. I think it’s a wonderful thing they do.

Jacob Oeser
Completing the pre-apprentice lineworker program at Columbia State has been an incredible experience, and I’ve learned so much along the way. Before this, I was doing electrical work. Climbing was scary at first, but now I feel confident and comfortable up there. I believe this program is setting me up for a solid future, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. My goal is to sign on with a contractor and, one day, work for Nashville Electric Service. The Metallica Scholarship made it possible for me to be here and focus on my goals, and that support meant so much to me and my family. I’ve been listening to Metallica since I was a kid, and I’ve even seen them live twice, so getting a scholarship from them was not only helpful but also real special.

Austin Barber
The Metallica Scholarship was a big help for me. It made going through my lineman class a lot more financially comfortable. Before I started this class, I was working at a restaurant. This class has taught me a lot about what it takes to be a lineman and the responsibilities that come with it. I’m really thankful for the financial help Metallica gave me to make it all possible.

The Metallica Lineworker Scholarship has helped me in a lot of ways. It gave me the chance to save money so I didn’t have to work while going to school. Before this, I was working for a small construction company, installing storefront glass right after high school, while saving up to go to school. My plan is to stick with this profession and use it to improve my life and support my family. I’m proud I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and gave something new a shot. Thank you!

Beau Schillig
The Metallica Scholarship has helped me learn something I’ve always wanted to do. Before this, I was traveling around the U.S. putting in above-ground oil water separators. I chose this program because it’s something I’ve always wanted to try, and now I’m getting the chance. This scholarship is helping me afford the program and is really setting me up to have a better future. I just want to thank Metallica for helping make that possible and bettering my future.

Joshua Andrew Sparkman
The Metallica Scholarship has been a huge help for me and my family, making it possible for me to go to school. Before this, I was working at a shop, but now I’m hoping to land a job with my local utility company back home. I take a lot of pride in my work ethic, and this scholarship gave me the chance to chase my dreams. It’s made a real difference in my life, so I just want to say thank you to Metallica for giving me this opportunity.

Cole McCcafferty
My experience as a Metallica Scholar has been a fantastic opportunity that’s really helped me move forward in my training program. Before I decided to join, I was mowing yards. I think my future looks bright, and I’m hoping to land a great lineman job. My plan is to get a job and hopefully make a lot of money. I’m proud of all the knowledge I’ve gained in this program, it’s really prepared me for what’s ahead. This scholarship has allowed me to be part of the program and gain the skills I need for my future. Thanks a lot, y’all are awesome, and I really appreciate everything.

Evan Hampton
Before I started school, I was just bouncing around from dead-end jobs, looking for a fulfilling career. I decided to go to Columbia State's lineworker program to get things going, and after applying, I found out about the Metallica Scholarship. It helped a lot since I had worked overtime all year to pay for school and actually got married right after our first week. The scholarship covered some of my expenses and helped me stay afloat so I could focus on school and get the rest of my life started. I can’t thank Metallica enough.

Timothy Brown
The Metallica Scholarship was a big help to me financially and made it easier to get started on my career. It let me focus more on working on my skills instead of worrying so much about debt or how I was going to pay for everything while in class. I’ve always liked Metallica’s music, so I’m really thankful for their help.

Griffen Frazier
I’m really grateful for the opportunity I got through the Metallica Scholars program. Before enrolling, I was working in HVAC, plumbing, and automotive jobs, but I’ve always admired linework and wanted to give it a try. My plan is to get into this field, learn as much as I can, and do my best to keep America’s power on. Thank you Metallica for making this amazing opportunity possible!

The Metallica Scholars Initiative has been a game-changer for me, and I'm incredibly thankful for everything they've provided. Before enrolling, I was working construction, but I'm so glad I made the decision to pursue the Lineworker Academy. Starting my career with support from Metallica Scholars means the world to me. With the scholarship, I’ll be able to afford more of the equipment I need as I work toward becoming a lineman apprentice. This opportunity has not only impacted my future but also means so much to my family. We're truly grateful for the help.

Zachary Bowlin
The experience was really great because it allowed me to focus completely on my schooling without worrying about anything else. Before starting the program, I was working on a farm, but this opportunity has taught me so much about the work of a lineman and what the job truly involves. If I could thank the band, I'd say thank you for helping cover my education costs. It has meant a lot to me and has taken away the stress of figuring out how to pay for it.

Cole Darnell
It’s been amazing to live without stress while focusing on school. I’d just graduated high school, I was wrestling and working at the Co-Op, thinking I’d head to a TCAT, but this opportunity changed my direction. Now, with all the certifications I’ve earned at such a young age, I feel like my future is really bright. I’m ready to start applying for jobs right away, and what I’m most proud of is getting all of this done early in life and getting ahead. Thank you for making my school experience so much less stressful, especially financially. Not having to worry about money allowed me to really focus and learn.

Bryce Tankersly
For the past year and a half, I’ve been working part-time with Lewisburg Electric System, where I needed to have my CDL and climbing certification. During my senior year of high school, there were no scholarships that covered the cost of the program—until I received the Metallica Scholars Initiative scholarship. This scholarship has helped me in tremendous ways, especially by relieving the financial burden of paying for school. I can’t thank Metallica enough for what they’ve done for me and my fellow classmates.

Brady O’Neal
After graduating from UT Southern with a bachelor's degree in business administration, I decided to stick to my goal of pursuing a career in the linework industry. As a Metallica Scholar, I was able to attend Columbia State Lineworker Academy at a substantially lower price. This has allowed me to save money for tools and cut down on my out-of-pocket expenses to travel to school. My experience at Columbia State has been phenomenal as I have gained much-needed knowledge about the industry. I feel I now have the skills to help myself be successful in the future. I would like to thank Metallica for making this goal of becoming a lineworker a reality without a huge financial burden.

Prior to this program I was attending the University of Tennessee - Southern School of Business and it just wasn’t right for me. By getting this scholarship, I was able to focus on school and not work full time. Without taking on student debt, I don’t feel pushed to get the first job that comes along, but I can take the right job. This program has given me a huge head start to an apprenticeship. I pushed myself harder than I ever have in my life and overcame my fear of heights, which I am very proud of. Thank you Metallica for taking the financial aspect out and allowing me to focus on building these skills and knowledge that will offer me a long healthy career as a lineworker.

Ethan Hardison
I was working at UPS when I decided to follow my dream of being a lineman. My experience in the program was great! I learned a lot and made a lot of great friends along the way. I plan to start my apprenticeship as soon as I can. I am most proud of climbing the 80 foot pole. The scholarship really helped shape my future because I didn’t work for 7 weeks and just focused on school which helped me out a lot. Thank you!

Keivarian Barner
Unlike my classmates, I am working full-time, as the general manager at Zaxby’s. I was still able to participate in this program and the Metallica scholarship allowed me choose this great option without dipping into savings or taking on debt. This experience was great and I plan to use it to find a career in the field. I am most proud of how I improved and got things done in a timely matter. Thank you so much Metallica, this means so much for us as a class.

Nathan Jackson
My experience as a Metallica Scholar has been amazing. It helped me to be able to afford the program. This class isn’t for everyone. I plan on becoming a lineman back in my home state of Michigan. This will give me an edge over other applicants. Thank you for helping my journey into this career.

McAdams Wilson
Before starting this program I was mowing grass full time. This experience has been great and I believe I have found my career path. I hope to get on with a local utility company, but if I have to travel I will. Thank you for taking the financial stress off of my worries so I could focus on the program.

Trevor Gleyze
This experience ROCKED! I love this trade and looking forward to finding a good job with a union or travel. Thank you!

Garth Marchant
Before making the decision to go to school, I was working for a remodeling company. I have found something that I love now. This scholarship has given me a head start on finding a career as a lineman. I am most proud of being that best that I can be and climbing the poles, each time getting better and better. Thank you for the wonderful experience and opportunity.

Jacob Gregg
My experience as a Metallica Scholar was great and it helped me out a lot. Before this I had a job cutting trees. I didn’t work during school so the scholarship helped me out to not spend money. I learned a lot and I loved it. Hopefully I will be a great lineman. Thank you so much!

Carter Housch
I had just graduated from Columbia State with an associates degree and I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was interested in the Pre-Apprentice Lineworker program, so I checked into it. I saved up all my money from working in the summer to pay for the program, but I would be on a fixed spend limit. I live about 45 minutes from Columbia State and most of what I’d saved to get through the program would be for gas and lunch. So my first question was “is there any financial aid available?” The Metallica Scholars Initiative gave me an opportunity to enroll in the program with minimal out-of-pocket expenses. As a Metallica Scholar I learned so much and gained a ton of experience. The certifications I have now from this program, CDL, OSHA, pole climbing will help me land an electrical utility distribution job at a local company. This will offer me stability, financial gains, and a retirement plan, none of which I’d have without Metallica Scholars.

Grant Knoll
If not for Metallica Scholars, I would not be here today telling my story because this program would not have been possible. After high school I was doing warehouse work with no plan B. This program taught me a lot and I’ve gained knowledge that I’ll hopefully bring to a union job in the field. I went from knowing nothing to being ready for an apprenticeship in two months. This scholarship helped me spend money towards other stuff in the program and necessities. Thank you Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation for this opportunity!

Tanner Westmoreland
This program and Metallica Scholars is a huge stepping stone for me. I enjoyed this program. It builds character and I’ve met great friends. I want to start working as soon as possible, using my knowledge to do good and make a good living. Not everyone can climb a pole and I’m proud of myself for learning that and the improvements I made throughout the course. This program is not cheap and I didn’t have income while going to the school since I couldn’t work, so this scholarship was a huge help. If I could, I’d climb a pole and play a Metallica song, singing it to them to show my thanks!

Jacob Harden
My experience with this program and as a Metallica Scholar has been great. This scholarship helped me further my education and training. The program builds character and teaches skills few people have. I would shake the bands’ hands if I could to thank them for their support and this opportunity.

Craig Delk
I’d just graduated from high school and was working a maintenance job over the summer. I am one of four children, with an older sibling in college. Metallica Scholars took some of the financial burden off my parents and gave me the chance to get in this program and take what I’ve learned to get a good job, hopefully with TVPPA. I absolutely recommend this program and hope that Metallica Scholars will be available for other students.
