Columbia State Community College is proud to present the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. The show previously scheduled for Friday, January 29 at 7 p.m. in the Cherry Theater has been postponed until Sunday, February 7 at 2 p.m. If you purchased tickets for the show already, your tickets will be good for February 7. There are plenty of tickets still available for purchase. The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements.

The band, whose music features a unique jazz sound, will perform popular selections such as "Little Brown Jug," "Tuxedo Junction," "A String of Pearls" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo." Other selections that audiences will enjoy include "Moon Light Serenade," "I've Got A Gal in Kalamazoo" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree."

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is named for Alton Glenn Miller, a famous trombone player, arranger, and band leader of the late 1930s and early 1940s who formed the original "Glenn Miller Orchestra" in the 1930's. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since. They play an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Larry O'Brien, trombonist, is currently the orchestra's musical director.

Ticket Information

The cost of tickets for the show is $25, or $20 for students with student ID. Tickets may be purchased at Columbia State, Monday through Thursday (12 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Waymon L. Hickman building, room 103, and 4:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Warf building, room 109), or Fridays (8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Hickman 103)

Tickets purchased by phone may be picked up the evening of the performance at the ticket office. Due to the popularity of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, we encourage you to purchase your tickets by phoning in advance.

The ticket office, which is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building, will also be open one hour prior to the performance. The Cherry Theater doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with no reserved seating.
