KAY KEYES FARRAR AND MARK DILLON CREATE AN ARTFUL LIFE

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Sept. 28, 2011) - - - Columbia State Community College is pleased to announce that two Maury County residents, Kay Keyes Farrar and Mark Dillon, will exhibit their works at the College's Pryor Art Gallery as a part of the gallery's 10th anniversary celebration. Both artists will have works on display and for sale Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. A reception will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the Pryor art Gallery from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Both artists will be present to visit with friends and share more about their individual artistic passion.


"We are proud to have local artists represented this month in the Pryor Gallery," said Lucy Kuykendall, Pryor Gallery Curator. "Kay and Mark feel that the creative arts environment is alive and well in Maury County. We hope everyone will take this opportunity to come visit the gallery and catch the spirit of both arts and crafts being produced locally."


Farrar, whose landscapes and nature have been the focus of both her Impressionistic plein-air and studio work, studied fine Arts in college in her home state of Wisconsin. Since relocating to Maury County with her husband in 2003, she has continued to study with master teachers and has exhibited and won awards and commissions in venues throughout our region. Recently, she has developed her skills as a portraitist, and she also finds time to give lessons.


Dillon grew up in Columbia and returned nearly a decade ago to teach woodworking at Columbia Central. Recently retired, Dillon now spends his days in his own wood working shop, producing one-of-a-kind furniture pieces that are exemplify bold design and fine workmanship. The Pryor Art Gallery is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on Columbia State's Columbia Campus. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The gallery is also open on weekends during special events.
