LOCAL MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL ART FEATURED IN PRYOR GALLERY

Open House to be Held on Tuesday, March 9

CAPTION: The artwork and talent of local high school and middle school students will be on display in Columbia State Community College's Pryor Art Gallery during March. The exhibit features art work from Columbia Central High, Mt. Pleasant High and Middle schools, Hampshire Unit School, Culleoka High, Santa Fe Unit School, Spring Hill High, Columbia Academy High School, and Zion Christian Academy Middle School. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Columbia State Community College will host the art work of local students from around Maury County during March. The exhibit, currently on display at the Pryor Art Gallery on the Columbia Campus, is free to the public.

"This exhibit gets more exceptional each year. Visitors will be awed by the smarts, talent, creativity, as well as hard work going on in our schools by students and teachers alike. Look in any direction in the Pryor Gallery, and you will be impressed by the promise of our youth," said Lucy Kuykendall, curator and director of Columbia State's Pryor Art Gallery.

The exhibit consists of numerous different mediums including graphite, oil paintings, oil, acrylic paintings, charcoal, tempera, paper mache, textiles, ceramics, water color, and construction paper collage.

Schools included in the exhibit are Columbia Central High, Mt. Pleasant High and Middle schools, Hampshire Unit School, Culleoka High, Santa Fe Unit School, Spring Hill High, Columbia Academy High School, and Zion Christian Academy Middle School.

There will be an open house held on Tuesday, March 9 at the Pryor Art Gallery from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Pryor Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The gallery is also open on weekends during special events. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.

The Pryor Art Gallery is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on Columbia State's Columbia Campus.
