The morning of Sept. 22, Coach Mike Corn and the Columbia State Chargers baseball team spent the day in Nashville at Rose Park working with boys and girls who have Down syndrome and other physical challenges. During the event, the team played games with the kids and helped them practice hitting and other skills.

"It's great to have opportunities for our student athletes to give back to the community. We want them to realize that there is more to life than baseball," Corn said. "I am very proud of how they interacted with the group of young people. We want to continue representing Columbia State on and off the field. We are truly blessed to be partnered with the Pujols Foundation."

Corn said this was the Chargers' first year to participate, and each semester, they will alternate weekends with Belmont University, Trevecca Nazarene University and Middle Tennessee State University.

The event was sponsored by the Pujols Family Foundation, a St. Louis, Missouri organization that promotes awareness, provides hope and creates supportive and memorable events for the families and children who live with Down syndrome, disabilities and life threatening illnesses, as well as children and families living in impoverished conditions in the Dominican Republic.
