Columbia State Economic and Workforce Development to Offer Clinical Medical Assistant Program on Williamson Campus

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Nov. 12, 2018) - - - Columbia State Community College's Office of Economic and Workforce Development is offering the "Clinical Medical Assistant" program at the Williamson Campus beginning March 4.

Classes will take place Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 - 9:30 p.m., and on some Saturdays throughout the semester through June 10. The comprehensive 140-hour program and 160-hour clinical externship prepares students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities in a medical office. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. In addition, students will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Assistant national examination upon successful completion of the program.

The cost for the course is $2,599 and includes textbooks. Registration closes March 1, so register now as limited seats are available.
