Columbia State Receives Donation from Youth Education Foundation

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. Jan 30, 2019) - - - The Youth Education Foundation recently presented a check to continue funding their scholarship through the Columbia State Community College Foundation.

The scholarship is to help with the cost of books and fees for Tennessee Promise students from Maury County that still have financial need.

“The College knows that the YEF works very hard to raise these funds to help students have the best opportunity possible to complete their program of study,” said Bethany Lay, Columbia State vice president for advancement and executive director of the Columbia State Foundation. “They have helped approximately 200 Maury County students since the beginning of the scholarship in 2015.”

The Youth Education Foundation is a Tennessee nonprofit based in Columbia dedicated to providing ways to encourage youth to complete high school and post-secondary education. As part of its overall mission, YEF seeks to reinforce the goals of Tennessee Promise and remove barriers that may prohibit students from seeking post-secondary education such as providing funds for costs and fees that are not covered by the state's Tennessee Promise.
