Columbia State’s Lewisburg Campus to Host BattleBots Robotics Summer Camp

Columbia State Community College’s Lewisburg Campus is excited to announce the BattleBots Robotics camp for summer 2025!
The camp is for rising sixth to eighth graders and will last four and a half days.
The camp is from July 21-25. Students will attend Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Participants will build several robots during the camp, modifying and programming one for a BattleBot competition. The first four days will include learning basic LEGO robot build techniques and programming commands for movement, turning, sensing, decision-making, along with combining the commands into sequences for solving problems. For the fifth day, participants will showcase a robot of their own design and build in the competition.
The goals of the camp include learning concepts of programming, engineering practices and teamwork, as well as to promote excitement for science, technology, engineering and math. LEGO SPIKE™ Education Kits and a program development environment will be used for hands-on building and programming activities.
Parents are encouraged to attend the competition on the final day.
Students are asked to bring a water bottle, lunch, a drink and a USB flash drive each day of the camp.
The course will be taught by Alan Fisher, Columbia State associate professor of computer informations systems.
